Are there connections between massacres, trauma, torment and pharmakeia (pharmaceutical) drugs? Find out in this latest episode of Jesus Generation TV as Bill Smith, a former United States Government Counter Drug Analyst for 29 years shares his insights concerning pharmakeia and sorcery.

Las Vegas Massacre (Murder), Trauma, Torment, Pharmakeia, and Deliverance:  A Brief Biblical Study

Luke 12:23 AMP

2  But there is nothing (so carefully) concealed that it will not be revealed, nor so hidden that is will not be made known.

3  For that reason, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be proclaimed on the housetops.

Psalm 31:15 NKJV

My times are in Your hand;

Deliver me from the hand of my enemies;

And from those who persecute me.

II Timothy 3:1-9 NKJV

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.

Today we will briefly discuss:

Murder:  Specifically the massacre in Las Vegas – and a potential satanic motive for this mass murder.

Trauma:  The mass trauma resulting from the Las Vegas mass murder and what spiritual gates may have been opened to demonic spirits.

Torment:  The spirit of fear and torment may be one of the first demonic spirits to enter through the temporary gate of trauma. Opposite of fear is Faith

Pharmakeia:  Victims of trauma and the succeeding spirits of fear or torment may consult doctors and therapists in an attempt to alleviate the effects of trauma and fear.  This may compound demonic possession and/or oppression by using drugs/pharmakeia and depending on medicines instead of depending on the Holy Father.

II The satanic threat:  The Las Vegas Massacre (Murder) and Trauma

Webster’s Dictionary defines trauma as an injury (such as a wound) to living tissue caused by an extrinsic agent; a disordered psychic or behavioral state resulting from severe mental or emotional stress or physical injury; an emotional upset; an agent, force, or mechanism that causes trauma.

Psalm 91:4-6 NKJV

4  He shall cover you with His feathers,

And under His wings you shall take refuge;

His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

5  You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,

Nor of the arrow that flies by day,

6  Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,

Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

Isaiah 41:10 NKJV

Fear not, for I am with you;

Be not dismayed, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you,

Yes, I will help you,

I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Proverbs 1:33 NKJV

But whoever listens to me will dwell safely,

And will be secure, without fear of evil.

Stephen Paddock, the gunman who opened fire on a crowd at a country music concert on the Las Vegas Strip was prescribed an anti-anxiety drug in June, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. If it was really a good medicine and working then why the killing?

The paper, citing records from the Nevada Prescription Monitoring Program, reported that Paddock was prescribed 50, 10-milligram Diazepam tablets by a physician on June 21.  The brand name of the drug is Valium.  The drug could trigger aggressive behavior.

Jim Clemente, a retired FBI profiler, said in an interview, that if Paddock’s suicide did not destroy his brain, experts could find some kind of neurological disorder or malformation.

Clemente pointed out that Paddock’s father – a bank robber – was diagnosed a psychopath.

He killed at least 59 and injured over 500 in about 11 minutes.

The Spirit of Death includes murder, suicide, accidents, fear of death, slander, anger, near-death experiences, miscarriages, abortion, and barrenness.

The Biblical opposite is Resurrection life and life more abundantly.

John 11:25 NKJV

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.

John 10:10 NKJV

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. states that Diazepam is better known by the trade name Valium.

Diazepam is used to treat anxiety, muscle spasms, and seizures.  It also sometimes is used to manage the potentially severe symptoms of alcohol withdrawal.

During the 1980s and 1990s, however, the use of Diazepam and other BZDs became more controversial.  Concerns about overprescribing benzodiazepines, as well as their potential for abuse and dependence, mounted.

Diazepam and related drugs remain among the most wisely prescribed psychoactive drugs in the United States.

From the Forerunner Commentary about the Spirit of Murder –

Genesis 4:1-15 NKJV

We learn that the way of Cain is idolatry, murder, deceit, selfishness, and .  These sins saturated pre-flood society to the point that God, seeing the wickedness of man, regretted He had even created humanity.

The Bible clearly differentiates between manslaughter and murder.  Manslaughter is the taking of a life accidentally.

Murder includes a measure of deliberateness, lying in wait, planning, setting one’s mind to do it.  It may be a situation in which one burns in anger against someone for a period of time.  Though he has plenty time to bring himself under control, he does not.  Then, reaching the boiling point, he murders his “enemy.”

Christ traces the roots of murder and war to three major sources:  anger, hatred, and the spirit of competition and aggression – in short, the self-centeredness of passionate carnality.

Brooding anger, contempt, and character assassination are all the Spirit of Murder.

The source of murder comes from the heart (mind, the core of an individual’s character) where hate and anger are festered by satan.  If we have these evil traits in our hearts, we are fostering the Spirit of Murder.  Thought precedes action and hatred precedes murder.  If we hate someone, we break the sixth commandment.

If a person never had an evil thought, no murder would exist.

Like all other sins, murder is generated in a person’s inner being.  As the evil thoughts germinate and grow, they begin a process that ultimately “if acted upon” produces murder.  Jesus shows that the character of our thoughts becomes the character of our conduct. We need to renew our mind daily in the Word of God (YAH).

Life without love is death because it is a life of selfishness, the opposite of what God is.

Hatred, the spirit of murder, destroys fellowship with God and man.  If one has hatred toward another, it proves he does not love God.  God is love.  No one with the spirit of murder within him is in the image of God.  Such an attitude must be overcome, for no murderer will enter His Kingdom.

Trauma can open the door for demonic torment.  Traumatic events in a person’s past could result in oppression that torments them long after the incident has passed.

— Rape, the sudden death of a loved one, or witnessing a tragedy are typical scenarios for demonic strongholds to take root.

— Trauma overwhelms our mental defenses.  Christian counselors are not exactly sure why these traumas open doors but suspect that it has something to do with our normal mechanisms being overwhelmed.

We think it is very possible that traumatic events can swamp and overrun the natural abilities to deal with unexpected events.  When this mental assault happens, evil spirits enter in through these crumbling defenses and take hold.  Spirits of fear are most common. Yet, Jesus has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind.

—  Unfortunately, even if the emotional damage is dealt with, the demonic spirits can still be resident and work to open doors for other spirits to enter.

Secular and Christian counselors alike understand how traumas cause emotional damage, and there are triggers that can cause memories to resurface.  Biblical principles of forgiveness and training in how to win spiritual mind battles can help facilitate healing as long as there are not demonic spirits resident.

If demons are present in a person’s soul, they must come out first so that healing can occur.

—  Have you had traumatic events that you know caused deep-seated issues in your life?  Have you tried counseling, therapy, read books, attended meetings and prayer, but have seen limited success in getting to the root?

—  We urge you to consider finding a competent deliverance ministry.  One-time traumas could open the door for strongholds that in turn work to invite in others.

III.  The satanic threat:  Torment

The King James Dictionary defines torment as extreme pain, anguish, the utmost degree of misery, either of body or mind; that which gives pain, vexation, worry, anxiousness or misery.

I Samuel 16:14-16 NKJV

14 But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and a distressing spirit from the Lord troubled him. 15 And Saul’s servants said to him, “Surely, a distressing spirit from God is troubling you. 16 Let our master now command your servants, who are before you, to seek out a man who is a skillful player on the harp. And it shall be that he will play it with his hand when the distressing spirit from God is upon you, and you shall be well.”

Acts 19:16

Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

The Spirit of fear (II Timothy 1:7) includes fears, phobias, heart attacks, torment, horror, nightmares, fear of persecution, fear of death, panic attacks, anxiety, stress, fear of mental imbalance and incompetence, fear of failure, rejection and criticism, mental confusion, double-mindedness, and physical illness.

The opposite is power, love, and a sound mind.  (II Timothy 1:7)

The Ten Most Common Open Doors for Demonic Torment include:

  1. Generational sins and curses;
  2. Word curses;
  3. Unforgiveness;
  4. Judgments against people;
  5. Occult sin;
  6. Sexual sin;
  7. Ungodly soul ties;
  8. Pride;
  9. Broken covenants and vows; and
  10.  Severe abuse/Trauma

Which are the most important responsible for torment?  It is our view that fear, generational curses and unforgiveness are most significant.

The fact is that the demonic kingdom is more active in some lives than people understand and can possibly take people out.  God said in Hosea 4:6 that His people perish for lack of knowledge and ignorance is not bliss when it comes to spiritual warfare and understanding the demonic realm.

Our understanding of the demonic realm continues to grow as we study the Holy Word and minister deliverance as the Holy Spirit leads.

Research has shown that excessive fear, worry, or anxiety in a person’s life can trigger or worsen certain sicknesses or diseases.

Are you aware that many sicknesses and diseases have a spiritual root, where the demonic spirits of fear (and others) enter and try to kill and destroy people?

Because there is limited teaching in the Body of Christ on the details of spiritual warfare and demon activity, many people are perishing because of lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6).

By the stripes of Jesus, the Bible says, we were healed.

Sometimes that healing comes through doctors who present healthy natural medicines that carry no harmful side effects, and laying on of hands.  However, sometimes the healing manifests when the demonic spirit behind the sickness leaves.  Deliverance of spirits resident in the soul brings freedom from anger, depression, fear, addictions, lusts, and more.

A cursory review of WebMD and other websites reveals a number of afflictions linked to stress.  Common diagnoses include Crohn’s disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Anxiety Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and migraine headaches to name only a few. Obesity can also be caused by a stress overload.

As Christians, we can and should appropriate every victory of Christ on the cross, and that includes living and walking out a life free from fear.

Sometimes we experience the emotion of fear, and when we take thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ and His word, that emotion is quelled and peace returns.  However, if we cannot get sustained victory in this area, then we should explore the likelihood that one or more spirits of fear are tormenting us.

Spirits are like cockroaches, and they will seek to invite in others, including depression, rejection, anger, addictions, and even Infirmity Spirits.

Fear opens the door for Spirits of Infirmity.

Many diagnoses include the words “syndrome” or “disorder.”  There are no known cures.  We contend that the majority of those involve demonic strongholds at the root that are manifesting in physical sickness.

In conclusion, when we are sick, sometimes we need only healing to return to wholeness.  If there are demonic spirits behind the affliction, then we need deliverance before the healing can come.  If we have one or more spirits of fear operating, they too must go IN THE NAME OF JESUS, and we must keep the doors closed should they try to return to the house.

IV – The satanic threat:  Pharmakeia

Strong’s defines pharmakeia as medication, magic, sorcery, witchcraft; the use or the administering of drugs; poisoning; magical arts, often found in connection with idolatry.

Galatians 5:19-21 NKJV

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Revelation 18:23 NKJV

The light of a lamp shall not shine in you anymore, and the voice of bridegroom and bride shall not be heard in you anymore.  For your merchants were the great men of the earth, for by your sorcery all the nations were deceived.

A Familiar Spirit (Leviticus 19:31) includes necromancy, ESP, mind reading, TM, psychics, mediums, yoga, peeping and muttering, spiritists, clairvoyants, apathy, passive mind dreamers, drugs/pharmakeia, and false prophecies.

The opposite is the Holy Spirit and all of His gifts (I Corinthians 12:9-12).

The words pharmacy and pharmaceutical are derived from the Greek word pharmakeia (Strongs G5331).

As a saint, what can or should you do about the situation in this critical hour at the closing of this age?

To make sense of why Bible versions translate the word we associate with drugs into words like “sorceries” and “witchcraft” you have to see it as one of satan’s schemes.

Pharmakeia is one among many schemes (Greek – “noema”) or strategies of satan.

From the Garden of Eden onward, the serpent has been bent on bringing forth offspring in his own image.

Drugs induce changes in our body chemistry.  Because the life of the flesh is in the blood (Leviticus 17:11) and blood is subject to pharmakeia’s effects, thereby making a direct impact on the soul!  The influence is also supernatural, with the very real effect of opening a door or gateway, a dimensional portal through which demons may pass.

These drugs affect the body’s function — metabolic processes.  They influence how one feels, thinks, and acts, their personality, responses, and reactions.  These changes may be temporary but may also last a very long time.  Some cause DNA to be rewritten, which changes a person quite tangibly into a different “someone else.”

There’s an obvious lesson here.  If you suspect the influence of curses in your life then consider the potential role pharmakeia plays and eliminating pharmaceuticals is always the better choice.  Entrust your health and well-being to the Lord, who is the Great Physician.

Strive to be found worthy of the Lord until your appointed end.  Watch, according to Mark 13:37.

An important article written by Dan Roberts from Natural News, reveals the real truth about mass shootings that bureaucrats and lawmakers are choosing to sweep under the rug:  psychiatric drugs.  If you want to know the real reason why mass shootings are taking place, this is the “inconvenient truth” the media won’t cover.

Nearly every mass shooting incident in the last 20 years, and multiple other instances of suicide and isolated shootings, all share one thing in common, and it’s not the weapons used.

The overwhelming evidence points to the single largest common factor in all of these incidents — the fact that all of the perpetrators were either actively taking antidepressants or had been at some point in the immediate past before they committed their crimes.

Multiple credible scientific studies going back more than a decade, as well as internal documents from certain pharmaceutical companies that suppressed the information show that SSRI drugs (Selective Serotonin Re-Uptake Inhibitors) have well-known, but unreported side effects, including, but not limited to suicide and other violent behavior.

Some of the prescribed drugs known to be associated with these crimes are Zoloft, Luvox, Prozac, Paxil, Ritalin, Effexor, Celexa, Lexapro, Welbutrin, Trazodone, and Ambien.

The Charleston church shooter Dylann Roof was a known drug user who was caught with the powerful mind-altering narcotic Suboxone when apprehended by police during the February 28, 2015, incident.

Suboxone is used to treat addiction to opioid drugs such as heroin.  Its adverse effects include anxiety, irritability, depersonalization, confusion, suicidal thoughts, and irrational, sometimes violent behavior.

Other drugs linked to mass killers have more often been geared toward treating mental illness.  According to a data set of U.S. mass shootings from 1982-2012 of the 62 mass shootings carried out by 64 shooters, the majority of the shooters – 41 – were noted to have signs of possible mental illness – the precise kinds of mental illnesses that psychotropic medications are prescribed for.

It is a well-documented fact that in the 1980s, a shift occurred in the direction of treating the mentally ill.  Rather than institutionalize them, the preferred method was to “mainstream” them – encouraging them to function in society while being treated with a mind-numbing array of new anti-depressants being developed by the pharmaceutical industry.

WND has compiled a list of over 25 killings committed by persons who had used mind-altering drugs or recently come off of them at the time of their crimes.

Bible verses about Pharmakeia

Deuteronomy 18:10-12 NKJV

10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you.

God considers these things to be idolatrous; they honor demonic spirits, and thus He calls them abominations or detestable things, things that He hates.

Leviticus 20:6 NKJV

I will set my face against anyone who turns to mediums and spiritists to prostitute themselves by following them, and I will cut them off from their people.

God likens spiritism to prostitution, the physical counterpart to spiritual prostitution, idolatry.  To God, witchcraft and occultism are similar to sexual immorality, but one is physical and the other is spiritual.  Both defile the purity God desires in our flesh and in our spirit.

Sorcery, intriguingly, is pharmakeia in Greek, from which we derive our words pharmacy and pharmaceutical.  Diviners, enchanters, witches, and sorcerers employ drugs and other potions to put them or their clients “in the spirit” so their “magic” works.

The Bible’s teachings on this is consistent.  Spiritism, the occult, is a form of idolatry, a kind of spiritual prostitution.  Its end is separation from God and eventual destruction.

Our primary – and really, only – defense is to trust in God’s Word and to uphold His promises of blessing for obedience, and make every effort to obey!
